Is digital social networking safe?

I think that, depending on how you go about it, it can be safer than "regular" networking.





... If you count going to bars as "networking" -- then meeting someone offline at a coffee shop (when you're both sober and can actually have a conversation) can be much safer and productive.





I think digital social networking is safe as long as you never tell someone your home address, always meet in public places, have an "early exit strategy", go with your gut, and use common safety sense (which hopefully you'd use anyway, even meeting people the more conventional routes!).

Is digital social networking safe?
It's about as safe as regular networking -- just don't link to people you don't really know.
