No, it does not "encourage" social networking and isn't supposed to do so. This is not a chat room. I disabled my email option so people would quit trying to keep contacting me after they read a particularly interesting answer then wanted to "continue the conversation" because I'm not here to converse, I'm here to answer questions.
I'm not an anti-social person, I just don't need the people from Yahoo Answers to supplement my already satisfactory social life.
How does Yahoo Answers encourage social networking?
It encourages the swapping of ideas and information across different countries and age groups.
Unfortunately, there are way too many antisocial people on here, also.
