Would mmorpgs be considered in the family of social networking along with Myspace, Facebook, etc?
MMORPGs as social networks?
I think they would fit into the category of games, so no. MMORPGs are games, and not all of them have social parts (like chats in game) and so the main category would not be a social networking site. Depending on the MMORPG, it could have a secondary category as social networking site, though.
Reply:According to Googles definition of "Social Networking":
"Social networking is a phenomena defined by linking people to each other in some way"
I would consider MMORPGS a social networking category because of the fact that guilds, profiles and characters created by players and the games forums enable users to interact and connect with one another.
Take a game like World of Warcraft which at the height of it's sucess was connecting millions of users with one another every day.
People have made real life friends through these games, get members of their families to play and in some cases even meet someone they end up marrying. I would say this allows them to be classified with social networking.

Reply:Gaia Online yeah, but not Runescape, you can talk on it but no one ever "dates" or anything like that (anyways runscape has AWESOME filters!)
Reply:I really like Xivio. It's free and no downloads. It has the virtual world with contests and games that are interactive not video. It also has 3d graphics.
I can also create a hompy there that can be personalized with videos, pictures and music.
